About the Designer
Nicholas Joseph Langenfeld was born in South Eastern Wisconsin in 1969 as the youngest of five siblings. He attended Washington Park High School, where he graduated in 1988.
Langenfeld first became interested in Goldsmithing while taking metal arts classes in high school. While working only with silver and brass, Langenfeld had an appetite for bigger and better things, and was hungry for more.
After graduating in 1988, Langenfeld relocated to Santa Monica, CA to pursue an education in the art that was his passion. He attended the Gemological Institute of America and completed the Jewelry Manufacturing Arts Program, April 14, 1989.
Langenfeld received the J.M.A. diploma, which entailed hand fabrication, repair, stone setting, pearl and bead stringing, jewelry design, wax modeling and casting. “It’s very gratifying starting with raw materials and creating something beautiful,” states Langenfeld. Langenfeld worked at the Gemological Institute of America as a technician in the jewelry manufacturing arts department.
In 2004, Langenfeld started his own business, N.J. Langenfeld’s Goldsmithy, in his home state of Wisconsin.
In 2013, Langenfeld relocated to Little Rock, AR and was Master Goldsmith/Designer at the most respected fine jewelry store in the state, where he remained until 2016.
In 2017, Langenfeld longed for his Northern roots and relocated to Woodstock, IL.
With 31 years experience, he provides his expertise to the industry for custom jewelry, quality repair, CAD design, laser repairs, wax milling, rapid prototyping, micro pave, and gold and platinum casting.
A longtime culinary aficionado, Langenfeld is described as a master chef, and spends his free time sharing his culinary creations with family and friends.
